Lighting Construction Summary

I wanted an overabundance of light; it’s easier to cut back than to add later.  By using LED ribbon lights, I get that wealth of light with no heat and the color and intensity can be controlled from a smartphone.  It made sense to install the lighting immediately after installing the backdrop.

The lighting plan called for a 16-in. valance dropping from the ceiling, following the outside edge of the layout but placed a few inches into the aisleway.  The lights are placed a few inches below the ceiling, between the valance and the opposite wall.

The construction had these major tasks:

• build the frame out of aluminum angle, aluminum flat bar stock and wooden slats
• attach the LED ribbon lights to the frame and provide power
• fit, cut and install girders for frosted panels
• fit, cut and install frosted panels
